Transpara Alternatives and ScreenPoint Medical Breast AI Compared

The short answer

Transpara is mammography and tomosynthesis detection software from ScreenPoint Medical, a Dutch company, FDA-cleared since November 2018. In the US it is sold directly and through Siemens Healthineers and Fujifilm units. The cleared alternatives are Hologic Genius AI, Therapixel MammoScreen, Lunit INSIGHT, iCAD ProFound AI and DeepHealth Saige-Dx.

Search for Transpara and you get ScreenPoint's own site, trial press releases and an unrelated KPI dashboard company with the same name. Nobody independent puts the clearances, the distribution deals and the public price record on one page. That is what a breast center needs when Transpara comes up in a mammography unit purchase or a renewal: the director of an independent imaging center, a hospital breast program manager, or a VA or military mammography lead deciding whether to keep it, switch, or add a reading assistant beside it.

ScreenPoint sells breast imaging AI as a point product: detection marks and an exam score for 2D and 3D mammography, plus a density module. Radiological.ai is an assistant across the whole read: it flags suspected findings on X-ray, CT, MRI and mammography, prioritizes the worklist and drafts the structured report, alongside whatever detection product you keep.

What to compare ScreenPoint Transpara Other cleared mammography AI
Who owns it ScreenPoint Medical B.V., a privately held company in the Netherlands led by CEO Pieter Kroese. It raised $16 million in April 2026 from Insight Partners, Siemens Healthineers and other existing investors plus research grants, about $49 million in total. Hologic (Genius AI), Therapixel of France (MammoScreen), Lunit of Korea (INSIGHT MMG and DBT), RadNet through DeepHealth (Saige-Dx and iCAD ProFound AI).
First detection clearance K181704, November 21, 2018, one of the first AI detection clearances for mammography. iCAD K182373 (December 2018), MammoScreen K192854 (2020), Genius AI K201019 (2020), Lunit INSIGHT MMG K211678 (2021), Saige-Dx K220105 (2022).
Clearance history Seven QDQ detection clearances: K181704, K192287 (2019), K193229 (2020), K210404 (2021), K221347 (2022), K241831 (November 2024) and K260898 (August 14, 2026). MammoScreen 5 K260714 (June 2026), Saige-Dx K253825 (June 2026), Lunit INSIGHT DBT 1.2 K253796 (March 2026), Genius AI 2.0 K243341 (July 2025), ProFound V4.0 K240417 (November 2024).
Breast density Transpara Density 1.0.0, K232096, December 2023. MammoScreen BD (K241561, 2024, and K243685, 2025), Volpara now Lunit, iCAD PowerLook Density, DeepHealth Saige-Density, Hologic Quantra.
How it reaches US sites Directly, and as an option on Siemens Healthineers MAMMOMAT systems and Fujifilm ASPIRE Cristalle units (US rollout announced August 2021). Genius AI ships with Hologic units. MammoScreen is sold directly and through partners such as Onsite Women's Health (150+ locations, April 2025). Lunit and DeepHealth sell directly.
Published price None. The one public US contract is a $44,944 five-year Army license for a Fujifilm Transpara AI CAD system (August 2025). We found no published list price for any of the five.
Where it wins Trial evidence. The Swedish MASAI randomized trial reported 12% fewer interval cancers with Transpara (The Lancet, January 2026), and it is independent of any imaging center operator. Genius AI on all-Hologic fleets, MammoScreen for sites that want a second independent option, Lunit where chest X-ray AI is also wanted, DeepHealth inside RadNet networks.
Switching cost Staying avoids revalidation, and if Transpara came bundled with your units, the license may follow the hardware contract. Moderate. A new integration with the mammography units and PACS, a local validation period, and radiologists learning a new score.

FDA data is from the openFDA 510(k) database, product codes QDQ and QIH, queried October 8, 2026. Funding and trial figures come from ScreenPoint announcements reported by Medical Device Network in April 2026. Federal data is from USAspending.gov.

What the public record shows

What the public record says Transpara costs

ScreenPoint publishes no price and holds no federal contract in its own name. The two checkable US numbers are a federal order placed through Fujifilm and a patient add-on fee at one clinic.

Measure Figure What it tells a buyer
Federal awards to ScreenPoint None in its own name, 2008 to 2026 Government buyers reach Transpara through a modality vendor, so the price sits inside a Fujifilm or Siemens Healthineers order.
The one order naming Transpara $44,944, Army, August 12, 2025, award W81K0025PA135, recipient Fujifilm Healthcare Americas A five-year license for one Fujifilm Transpara AI CAD system, roughly $9,000 a year for a single unit.
Compared with iCAD iCAD federal orders: 42 awards, median $16,206 Single-site mammography AI renewals in federal breast centers run in the low tens of thousands of dollars a year.
Patient add-on fee $29 out of pocket at one Arizona imaging center Some US sites pass AI review to patients as an optional fee because insurers do not cover it. That is a clinic choice, not a ScreenPoint price.

Federal source: USAspending.gov prime awards, award types A to D, fiscal 2008 to 2026, pulled October 8, 2026. Searches for SCREENPOINT, THERAPIXEL, TRANSPARA and MAMMOSCREEN as recipient return nothing. A keyword search for Transpara also returns aircraft canopy transparencies and office supplies, which are excluded; only award W81K0025PA135 names the product.

Radiological.ai vs ScreenPoint Transpara, honestly

A fair look at what each does well. Both are capable tools. Here is where they differ.

What matters Radiological.ai ScreenPoint Transpara
What you are buying Software that flags suspected findings across the read, prioritizes the worklist and drafts the structured report. Detection marks, an exam-level score from 1 to 10 and density for mammography and tomosynthesis.
Studies covered X-ray, CT, MRI and mammography, under one subscription. Breast imaging only.
Unit of cost Per reading radiologist, published: $399 a month on the Practice plan or $199 a month billed annually, and $598 a month on the Group plan or $299 a month billed annually. Unpublished. License per mammography unit or site, often quoted inside a Siemens Healthineers or Fujifilm deal.
Owner An independent software company that runs no imaging centers. An independent, venture-backed Dutch company with Siemens Healthineers as an investor.
Who signs the report The radiologist. The assistant never signs anything. The radiologist, in the reporting system beside the PACS.
Best suited for Practices that read breast and general studies and want one assistant across the whole worklist. Breast centers that want the detection product with the most randomized trial evidence.

Comparison reflects general, publicly understood positioning. Capabilities change, so check each product for the latest.

This page covers one mammography AI vendor. For the vendor RadNet bought, see iCAD ProFound AI alternatives, and for Lunit, which competes with Transpara on both detection and density, see Lunit alternatives. If density is the part you are renewing, Volpara alternatives lines up the five cleared density products, Transpara Density among them. The vendor most often compared head to head with ScreenPoint is covered on Therapixel MammoScreen alternatives.

For what the breast center buys around detection, mammography tracking software covers MQSA audit and follow-up, and AI mammography software shows how the assistant flags suspected findings and drafts the report.

Why groups pick Radiological.ai

One assistant across the whole read

Find out whose contract it is

If Transpara came with Siemens Healthineers or Fujifilm units, your license may be a line in the modality contract. Ask whether it renews with the hardware service agreement or separately, and what happens to it if you replace the units with another make.

Ask what the score does to your workflow

Transpara groups exams into scores of 1 to 10. Ask how your radiologists use the low scores, whether anyone reads them faster, and what your own recall and detection rates were before and after go-live.

Price per unit, not per study

The only public US order is about $9,000 a year for one unit over five years. If your quote is far above that per unit, ask for the line items: license, support, integration and any per-study fee.

Separate detection from capacity

Detection marks a region and stops. If the real problem is how many studies each radiologist gets through, an assistant that also orders the worklist and drafts the report addresses that, and it can sit beside Transpara.

Good questions

ScreenPoint Transpara vs Radiological.ai, answered

ScreenPoint Medical B.V., a privately held company in the Netherlands, makes Transpara. Its CEO is Pieter Kroese. It raised $16 million in April 2026 from Insight Partners, Siemens Healthineers and other existing investors plus non-dilutive grants, bringing total funding to about $49 million.
Transpara is FDA cleared, not approved, through the 510(k) pathway. The first clearance was K181704 on November 21, 2018, and the most recent detection clearance is K260898 on August 14, 2026. Transpara Density was cleared separately as K232096 in December 2023. Clearance means substantial equivalence, not proof of better outcomes.
ScreenPoint publishes no price. The only public US contract is an Army order from August 2025: $44,944 for a five-year license on one Fujifilm Transpara AI CAD system, about $9,000 a year. Commercial quotes depend on the number of units, volume, term and whether it comes inside a modality deal.
Transpara is vendor-neutral and reads 2D and 3D images from several makers, and it is sold as an option on Siemens Healthineers and Fujifilm units. On an all-Hologic fleet, many sites compare it against Hologic Genius AI, which ships with the units. Ask ScreenPoint for a reference site on your exact model.
The other FDA-cleared mammography detection products are Hologic Genius AI Detection, Therapixel MammoScreen, Lunit INSIGHT MMG and DBT, iCAD ProFound AI and DeepHealth Saige-Dx. iCAD and DeepHealth now both belong to RadNet, so independent centers that want an independent vendor usually compare Transpara, MammoScreen and Lunit.
MASAI is a Swedish randomized controlled trial of AI-supported screening with Transpara. Results published in The Lancet in January 2026 reported a 12% lower interval cancer rate in the AI-supported arm, and earlier MASAI results showed a lower screen-reading workload. It used double-reading European practice, so US single-reader results may differ.
Yes. Detection and reading assistance sit side by side. Radiological.ai receives studies over standard DICOM, flags suspected findings for review, prioritizes the worklist and drafts the structured report. The radiologist reviews, edits and signs every study, and Transpara keeps running.
