Exa PACS Alternatives and What Konica Minolta PACS Costs Imaging Centers
The short answer
Exa PACS is the Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas PACS that came from its 2015 purchase of Viztek, sold with Exa RIS and Exa Billing. Konica publishes no price, federal records show no Exa purchase since 2015, and KLAS flags limited market share with 8 organizations surveyed. The alternatives are another PACS, or keeping Exa and adding AI to the read.
Search for Exa PACS and nearly every result is Konica Minolta, an equipment reseller or a login page. There is no independent comparison, and the buyer usually meets Exa the same way: bundled into a quote for Konica digital X-ray, with PACS, RIS and billing on one platform. This page is for an imaging center, orthopedic or specialty practice, or small hospital holding that bundle, or an Exa site deciding whether to add AI rather than switch. Every figure comes from a public record we can point to.

Flag · prioritize · draft · you review and sign
Konica Minolta sells the imaging platform: Exa PACS with a zero footprint viewer, Exa RIS, Exa Billing, Exa Voice speech recognition and the X-ray hardware that often comes with them. Radiological.ai sells none of that. It is an assistant that works alongside the PACS you already run, flags suspected findings as studies arrive, reorders the worklist and drafts the structured report for the radiologist to sign. You would replace Exa with another PACS. You would add us to Exa.

| What to compare | Konica Minolta Exa PACS | Other PACS (RamSoft, INFINITT, Novarad, Intelerad) |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns it | Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas (Wayne, NJ), part of Konica Minolta, Inc. in Tokyo. Exa came from Viztek, acquired October 1, 2015, price undisclosed. | RamSoft (private, Toronto), INFINITT (KOSDAQ listed, Seoul), Novarad (private, Provo), Intelerad (GE HealthCare since March 2026). |
| What is in the bundle | Exa PACS, Exa RIS, Exa Billing, Exa Voice, peer review and specialty viewers on one platform, often quoted with Konica DR and CR hardware. | RamSoft, INFINITT and Novarad also sell RIS with PACS. None bundles its own X-ray hardware. |
| How it is priced | No published price on any Exa page. Quote based. | Also unpublished. Novarad says upgrades are included on its evergreen model. |
| FDA 510(k) for the PACS | 2: K142919 (Viztek, December 2014) and K203743 (Konica Minolta, December 2021). | INFINITT 17, Intelerad 8 including Ambra, RamSoft 5, Novarad 5 for NovaPACS. |
| FDA recalls | None found for Exa or Viztek. | Intelerad 4 open (September 2026). Novarad 4, all closed. INFINITT none found. |
| Independent record | KLAS flags limited market share, 8 organizations surveyed September 2025 to September 2026, so no ranking. | Sectra has been Best in KLAS for US PACS for 13 years. Novarad has no current public KLAS score either. |
| Where it wins | One vendor for the X-ray room, PACS, RIS and billing, and a viewer that renders on the server so nothing installs on the reading PC. | Intelerad for multi-site teleradiology, INFINITT for radiology plus cardiology, Novarad for critical access hospitals. |
| Switching cost | High, like any PACS, and higher if RIS and billing move with it. | The same. Budget migration as its own line with its own timeline. |
Exa facts come from healthcare.konicaminolta.us, Konica Minolta newsroom releases and the KLAS product page, collected September 30, 2026. FDA data is from the openFDA 510(k) and recall databases. Federal award data is from USAspending.gov, award types A to D, fiscal 2008 to 2026, every recipient name and description read by hand.
What the public record shows
Konica Minolta federal awards a buyer can check
Konica publishes no Exa price, so we read every federal award to Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas and to Viztek. The result says more about what Konica sells to the government than about Exa.
| Group of awards | Count and total | What it tells a buyer |
|---|---|---|
| Exa PACS, Exa RIS or Exa Billing | 0 awards | No federal buyer has bought Exa under its own name since the 2015 acquisition, so there is no public price point. |
| Viztek teleradiology support at the VA | 5 awards, $48,000 (2009 to 2011) | The only federal PACS dollars, all before Konica owned Viztek. Largest $25,500 for teleradiology server services. |
| Digital X-ray, CR and service | 92 awards, $2.68M | This is what Konica sells to the government: AeroDR and Regius systems and their service. Median award $10,345. |
| Largest single award | $266,000 (June 2017) | An AeroDR digital X-ray system for the Indian Health Service. Hardware, not software. |
| By agency (hardware) | VA $1.11M, IHS $552K, DLA $384K, BOP $371K | Federal hospitals buy the X-ray rooms. The software decision is where you can shop around. |

A different company, Viztek Inc of Iowa City (Navy research), and a copier maintenance order were excluded. Keyword searches for EXA PACS, KONICA PACS and OPAL-RAD returned no awards.

Radiological.ai vs Exa PACS, honestly
A fair look at what each does well. Both are capable tools. Here is where they differ.
| What matters | Radiological.ai | Exa PACS |
|---|---|---|
| What you are buying | Software that flags suspected findings on the image, prioritizes the worklist and drafts the structured report. | The PACS and RIS: Exa PACS, Exa RIS, Exa Billing and Exa Voice, often with Konica X-ray hardware. |
| Relationship to your PACS | Works alongside it. It reads from the PACS you already run, Exa included. | It is the PACS. Adopting it means replacing what you have. |
| Unit of cost | Per reading radiologist, published: $399 a month on the Practice plan or $199 a month billed annually, and $598 a month on the Group plan or $299 a month billed annually. | Unpublished. Quote based, frequently bundled with hardware. |
| Project size | Days to weeks. No image migration. | Months. Priors migration, interfaces, RIS and billing cutover, training. |
| Who signs the report | The radiologist. The assistant never signs anything. | The radiologist, in Exa Voice or whichever reporting system you run. |
| Best suited for | Groups happy with their PACS who want more studies read per radiologist hour. | Imaging centers and practices that want one vendor for X-ray, PACS, RIS and billing. |
Comparison reflects general, publicly understood positioning. Capabilities change, so check each product for the latest.
This page covers one PACS vendor. For the category, PACS software separates the deployment models, and PACS pricing and cloud PACS cost benchmarks quotes against federal PACS awards and lists the line items every quote bundles.
If another imaging center PACS is on your shortlist, RamSoft PACS alternatives, the INFINITT PACS system and Novarad PACS alternatives work through those quotes the same way, and Intelerad PACS alternatives covers what changed under GE HealthCare. If the RIS is the real question, radiology information system software compares the RIS vendors.
If the PACS is fine and the real ask is AI, how the assistant integrates with your PACS explains what connects to what, radiology worklist prioritization covers the triage side, and our pricing is published per radiologist.
Why groups pick Radiological.ai
One assistant across the whole read
Unbundle the hardware from the software
When Exa arrives inside an X-ray quote, ask for the PACS, RIS and billing priced as separate lines with their own support terms. Hardware is depreciated over years; software support renews every year, and a bundle discount on day one can hide a steep software renewal later.
Ask for references your size
KLAS shows only 8 organizations surveyed for Exa PACS in the last year, and there is no federal Exa record to check. That is not a verdict on the product, but it means you should ask for two or three reference sites with your study volume and modality mix, and call them.
Get the data export in writing
With PACS, RIS and billing on one platform, leaving means moving images, orders and billing history at once. Put the export format, timeline and price into the contract now, while you still have leverage.
Separate the PACS decision from the AI decision
Konica added a deepc AI marketplace to Exa in January 2026. If your radiologists want AI in the read and the PACS is fine, an assistant that reads from Exa gets you there in weeks. Every flag is a prompt to look again and the radiologist signs every report.
