Compare ยท Intelerad PACS

Intelerad PACS Alternatives, IntelePACS and Ambra Cloud PACS Under GE HealthCare

The short answer

Intelerad PACS is IntelePACS, the PACS from Intelerad of Montreal, which GE HealthCare bought for $2.3 billion in cash, closing March 18, 2026. Intelerad publishes no price. Its 20 US federal awards total $32.3 million, 99.7 percent of it the VA National Teleradiology Program, and four FDA recalls are still open.

Search for Intelerad PACS and the first page is Intelerad describing Intelerad, plus radiology group portals that run on InteleConnect. Search for Intelerad alternatives and you get software directories that list Aidoc next to OsiriX. Nobody has put the facts a buyer needs in one place, and the most important one is new: since March 2026 your PACS vendor is GE HealthCare. This page is for a teleradiology group, imaging center or hospital on IntelePACS with a renewal coming up, or holding an Intelerad quote next to INFINITT, RamSoft or Sectra. Every figure comes from a public record we can point to.

Intelerad sells the imaging platform itself: IntelePACS with the InteleViewer desktop viewer and the InteleConnect web portal, the InteleShare image exchange built from Ambra and Life Image, archives, cardiology and breast reporting. Radiological.ai sells none of that. It is an assistant that sits alongside the PACS you already run, flags suspected findings as studies arrive, reorders the worklist and drafts the structured report for the radiologist to sign. You would replace IntelePACS with another PACS. You would add us to IntelePACS.

IntelePACS against the other PACS on a US shortlist

The vendors a teleradiology group or imaging center is most often quoted alongside Intelerad. Every row is a published fact or a public record, not a benchmark we ran.

What to compare Intelerad IntelePACS Other PACS (INFINITT, RamSoft, Sectra)
Who owns it GE HealthCare, since March 18, 2026, for $2.3B in cash. Before that Hg (from 2020) with TA Associates as minority investor. INFINITT Healthcare (KOSDAQ listed, Seoul), RamSoft (private, Toronto), Sectra AB (listed in Stockholm).
How it is priced No rate card. Cloud deals are typically per study; on premises is license plus maintenance. Also unpublished. A mix of per study subscription and license plus maintenance.
FDA 510(k) clearances 8: five for IntelePACS (latest K192176, April 2020) and three from Ambra (latest K231360, June 2023). INFINITT 17 (PACS 7.0, K172803), RamSoft 5 (OmegaAI, K222476), Sectra 19.
Open FDA recalls 4 open: InteleConnect data loss (Z-0723-2026), PET/CT SUV values in InteleViewer fusion (Z-1208-2025), InteleShare ProViewer MPR length (Z-0941-2026), Ambra PACS edit race condition (Z-1818-2022). INFINITT none found. Ask every vendor for its open recalls at quote stage.
US federal prime awards 20 awards, $32.3M, median $10,409. The VA National Teleradiology Program is 99.7% of the dollars. INFINITT 3 awards, $217,735, one Bureau of Prisons hospital. RamSoft and Sectra none.
Where it wins Teleradiology and multi-site reading. The VA runs its national teleradiology program on it, and the Ambra and Life Image network adds cloud image exchange. INFINITT: one vendor across radiology, cardiology and pathology. Sectra: 13 years Best in KLAS for US PACS. RamSoft: imaging centers.
What to watch Roadmap and support under a new owner that also sells a competing PACS and AI. Thin US public record for INFINITT, migration effort for any switch.
Switching cost High, like any PACS: priors migration, integrations, hanging protocols and retraining. The same. Budget migration as its own line with its own timeline.

Intelerad facts come from GE HealthCare investor releases of November 20, 2025 and March 18, 2026, Intelerad press releases and intelerad.com, collected September 29, 2026. FDA data is from the openFDA 510(k) and recall databases. Federal award data is from USAspending.gov, award types A to D, fiscal 2008 to 2026, every recipient name and description read by hand.

What the public record shows

IntelePACS federal awards a buyer can check

Intelerad publishes no prices, so federal awards are the only checkable figures. Nearly all of the money is one customer, the VA National Teleradiology Program, which reads for VA hospitals nationwide.

Award Amount and start What it tells a buyer
VA NTP PACS upgrade, v4.9 to 4.14 $12,165,015 (Aug 2019) The largest award. A version upgrade on a national system can cost more than the original refresh, so price upgrades before you sign.
VA teleradiology PACS $6,403,349 (Sept 2013) The original national teleradiology build.
VA NTP support and sustainment $4,879,487 (Dec 2018) Support bought as its own contract. Ask what maintenance covers and what is billed on top.
VA NTP PACS refresh $4,683,805 (Sept 2017) A refresh four years after the build. Plan for one inside a typical contract term.
VA NTP PACS upgrade $3,681,500 (Apr 2026) Signed a month after GE HealthCare closed the deal, so the national program is staying on IntelePACS for now.
VA NTP mammography license and AI $175,720 (Sept 2022) Modules, including AI, bought separately from the core PACS.
NIH and CDC orders (12) $93,331 in total, median $6,650 Small license and support orders, which is what a single department pays.
All 20 awards $32.3M total, $10,409 median Five awards above $1M, all VA. The median is low because most orders are small add-ons.

Source: USAspending.gov prime awards to INTELERAD MEDICAL SYSTEMS INC, award types A to D, fiscal 2008 to 2026, pulled September 29, 2026. All 20 rows read by hand. A search for AMBRA HEALTH returned only Alhambra nursing homes and was discarded.

Radiological.ai vs Intelerad PACS, honestly

A fair look at what each does well. Both are capable tools. Here is where they differ.

What matters Radiological.ai Intelerad PACS
What you are buying Software that flags suspected findings on the image, prioritizes the worklist and drafts the structured report. The PACS: IntelePACS, InteleViewer, InteleConnect, archives and the InteleShare exchange.
Relationship to your PACS Works alongside it. It reads from the PACS you already run, IntelePACS included. It is the PACS. Adopting it means replacing what you have.
Unit of cost Per reading radiologist, published: $399 a month on the Practice plan or $199 a month billed annually, and $598 a month on the Group plan or $299 a month billed annually. Unpublished. Per study in the cloud, license plus maintenance on premises.
Project size Days to weeks. No image migration. Months. Priors migration, interfaces, hanging protocols and training.
Who signs the report The radiologist. The assistant never signs anything. The radiologist, in whichever reporting system you run.
Best suited for Groups happy with IntelePACS or another PACS who want more studies per radiologist hour. Teleradiology groups and multi-site readers that need a fast distributed PACS and cloud image exchange.

Comparison reflects general, publicly understood positioning. Capabilities change, so check each product for the latest.

This page covers one PACS vendor. For the category, PACS software separates the deployment models, and PACS pricing and cloud PACS cost benchmarks quotes against federal PACS awards and lists the line items every quote bundles.

If INFINITT or RamSoft are on your shortlist, INFINITT PACS system alternatives and RamSoft PACS alternatives work through those quotes the same way. At the enterprise end, the Sectra PACS system and Sectra One cost and Visage 7 cost from 36 disclosed deals cover the other names.

If the PACS is fine and the real ask is AI, how the assistant integrates with your PACS explains what connects to what, and our pricing is published per radiologist. Intelerad also partners with RADPAIR for reporting; RADPAIR vs PowerScribe compares that option.

Why groups pick Radiological.ai

One assistant across the whole read

Get the GE HealthCare answers in writing

Ask which Intelerad products GE plans to keep, merge or retire, how long your version is supported, and whether support staff and escalation paths change. GE also sells its own PACS and AI, so put roadmap commitments and a change-of-control clause into the renewal rather than trusting a slide.

Price upgrades and modules up front

The largest federal award is a version upgrade at $12.2 million, bigger than the original build. Ask for version upgrades, AI and mammography modules and the InteleShare exchange as priced lines for the whole term, and a cap on annual maintenance increases.

Check the open recalls against your version

Four recalls are open, including incorrect PET/CT SUV values in the InteleViewer fusion module and length errors in the InteleShare ProViewer. Ask which versions you run, whether the fixes are installed, and have your physicists confirm it for PET/CT.

Separate the PACS decision from the AI decision

If radiologists want AI in the read and the PACS is fine, an assistant that reads from IntelePACS gets you there in weeks. Replace the PACS only if the PACS is the problem. Every flag is a prompt to look again and the radiologist signs every report.

Good questions

Intelerad PACS vs Radiological.ai, answered

GE HealthCare. It agreed to buy Intelerad for $2.3 billion in cash on November 20, 2025 from Hg, TA Associates and other holders, and completed the deal on March 18, 2026. GE expects about $270 million of revenue in the first full year, roughly 90 percent recurring. Intelerad was founded in Montreal in 1999.
Yes. Since March 18, 2026 Intelerad is a GE HealthCare company, and intelerad.com says so. The products still carry the Intelerad names, including IntelePACS, InteleViewer, InteleConnect and InteleShare. Existing contracts carry over, so ask GE for written roadmap and support commitments for your version.
Intelerad does not publish a price. Cloud deals are usually priced per study and on premises deals as license plus maintenance. The only public figures are 20 federal awards totalling $32.3 million with a $10,409 median; the large ones, $3.7 million to $12.2 million, are for the VA National Teleradiology Program.
Intelerad bought Ambra Health, the cloud PACS and image exchange company formerly called DICOM Grid, completing the deal on November 3, 2021. Ambra is now sold as InteleShare, and Intelerad later added Life Image in 2022. Ambra PACS holds its own FDA clearances, the latest K231360 from June 2023.
Yes. IntelePACS holds five FDA 510(k) clearances, the latest K192176 from April 2, 2020, and the Ambra products add three more. Four FDA recalls on Intelerad and Ambra software remain open, including incorrect PET/CT SUV values in the InteleViewer fusion module, so check which version you run.
The PACS most often quoted against Intelerad in the US are INFINITT, RamSoft PowerServer and OmegaAI, Sectra, Fujifilm Synapse and Visage 7. Teleradiology groups and imaging centers tend to compare INFINITT and RamSoft; hospitals add Sectra and Synapse. The other alternative is to keep IntelePACS and add an AI assistant that reads from it.
Ambra has been part of Intelerad since November 2021 and of GE HealthCare since March 2026, and it is now sold as InteleShare. The cloud PACS most often quoted instead are RamSoft OmegaAI, Sectra's cloud service, INFINITT, which won the 2026 Best in KLAS ambulatory and community PACS categories, Visage 7 and Fujifilm Synapse. For image exchange alone, compare the exchange features separately from the archive and viewer.
Yes. Intelerad sells its own InteleGence AI, and independent assistants read studies from IntelePACS over standard DICOM and send results back to the worklist. The radiologist keeps reading in InteleViewer, and the assistant adds flags, priority and a draft report that the radiologist signs.
